Body of woman bound at hands, legs found in PMB river
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Police are still working to establish the identity of a woman whose body was found in a river at Smero in Pietermaritzburg.
The victim is believed to have been in her twenties.
Ward councillor Siphiwe Phungula says she was found on Sunday by community members.
Her hands and legs were tied and her mouth was covered with plastic.
"Is seems as if someone was just thrown into the river. Maybe they killed her somewhere because there is nothing in Smero that says there is a missing person."

The woman's death comes as the world observes 16 Days of Activism.
Lifeline and Rape Crisis in Pietermaritzburg's Sinikiwe Biyela says it's extremely disturbing.
"It feels like in a country we are not doing enough. If we are doing enough, we should see less of these incidents, instead we are seeing more and the body of the woman who was found; we know that there are many other women who are currently going through this that they haven't lost their lives but it is a matter of time before they die as well."
