Heavy storms leave four dead, 21 hurt in KZN

Severe storms in southern KZN last night have claimed the lives of four people and left 21 others hurt.
Emergency services say those who died were caught up in lightning strikes in the Harding area. KZN Emergency Medical Services say the victims, including a child, passed away in hospital. 21 other people were hurt in the storms.
Eight people were injured in two separate lighting strikes, one person was struck by falling hailstones and 12 others were hurt when strong winds damaged their homes.

Spokesperson Robert Mckenzie says the structures either collapsed or their roofs were blown off.
"The conditions were still very bad when paramedics and police tried to access the area affected by last night's storm. There was still lots of rain and wind at the time, as well as lots of mud that the paramedics had to try get through to access these people who needed help," he said.
