"It's been so many weeks, almost a month. It's just standing water, sewer water. You can see sewerage running on the road. It's not pleasant," says local resident Mandy Ralph.

She says the water that runs down the street of Gardendale Crescent is a health hazard.

"It is difficult to go in and out of the properties, kids are travelling to school and with all these things that are happening in the area it's becoming difficult to even live around that area."

"I think it is going to be hazardous to our health and especially for people living outside where the water is standing."

Ward councillor Samantha Windvogel says she is aware of the problem.

She says there was a wash-away during the floods that is now causing sewage water to overflow into the streets.

Windvogel says it has been reported to the municipality and that they will continue to apply pressure till the matter is sorted out.
