Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
South Africans
should have a clearer picture of the country's Covid-19 situation by Tuesday
afternoon.
Health officials will hold a briefing to update the country on new developments.
This comes after the first case of the subvariant XBB1.5 was picked up over the weekend.
Experts however say they aren't seeing a spike in coronavirus cases, hospitalisations or deaths.

The highly transmissible variant - named Kraken - has been detected in more than 25 other countries.
"The ministry will use this opportunity to respond to a number of public issues, including the discovery of a new variant called XBB1.5 which has dominated the media space and also created public panic in the past few days,” says the Health Department's Foster Mohale.
