Health Council vows to root out illegal practitioners

The Health Professions Council of South Africa says it's determined to root out medical practitioners who're aren't registered and those practising illegally.

A man who'd been illegally practising in Pietermaritzburg was arrested recently, after inspections countrywide.
According to the Council, Siphesihle Dube had registered with the HPCSA as a clinical associate until he was suspended from the register in 2018.

He'd failed to pay the annual fees. He was out on bail before his appearance in court Monday.
Meanwhile, the Health Professions Council says in Gauteng, three suspects linked to the purchase and sale of fraudulent medical certificates, were arrested.
