Hawks take over police, security guard murder case
The Hawks have taken over the investigation into the murder of a police officer and a security guard in Umlazi on Monday night.
The police officer was shot and killed while trying to track down the suspect who shot the security guard at a clinic in U-Section.
Hawks spokesperson Simphiwe Mhlongo is calling on witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
No arrests have been made. Mhlongo was unable to confirm initial reports that the initial shooting could have been linked to an unprotected strike.
''In our investigation we are trying to establish if the killing of the security guard links to that protest or not,'' he said.
