The two parties met on Wednesday.

Fraser is at the centre of the controversy over the theft of a large amount of foreign currency from the president’s Phala Phala farm in 2020.

The robbery came to light after Fraser laid a criminal complaint against Ramaphosa, accusing him of kidnapping, bribery, money laundering and concealing a crime related to the alleged theft of $4 million.

Ramaphosa has denied any criminal wrongdoing.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Fraser said he provided more information on the charges to the elite crime-fighting unit.

“Fraser met with the Hawks to assist them with their investigation into his complaint against President Cyril Ramaphosa. He has furnished the Hawks with additional information and details to enable them to do their work.Mr Fraser appreciates the professionalism and the speed with which the Hawks have responded to his complaint,” the state read.

Hawks spokesperson Thandi Mbambo says there is nothing unusual about the meeting.

“The Hawks investigators met with the complainant (Mr Arthur Fraser) in his lawyer's offices to officially inform him that they are investigating the case he reported of corruption, money laundering and kidnapping, and for him to clarify certain issues on his affidavit.”
