Harding man arrested for possession of illegal firearms

A 42-year-old South Coast man has been bust with an assortment of rifles and live ammunition.
The findings were the result of an intelligence-driven operation by the Port Shepstone Public Order Police unit aimed at flushing out illegal firearms in the Harding area.
Thursday's sweep saw officers uncovered two 303 rifles, an AK 47 and an assortment of 108 rounds of ammunition said to belong to the suspect.

KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson, Thembeka Mbele says the man appeared in the Harding Magistrates Court on Friday.
"The suspect was detained and charged for being in illegal possession of firearms and ammunition at Harding SAPS.
"The firearms will be subjected to ballistic testing to ascertain if they were used in the commission of any crime," says Mbele.
