Hanekom brought an urgent interdict against Zuma after he Tweeted that Hanekom was an enemy agent.

Hanekom is seeking an apology, retraction and R500,000 in damages.

He also wants the Tweet removed.

Hanekom's legal representative, Carol Steinberg has argued that the Tweet has caused great reputational damage to her client, as it has been interpreted as him being an apartheid spy.

Zuma mentioned people he thought were apartheid spies while in the hot seat at the Zondo Commission of Inquiry into State Capture last month.

While Hanekom's name was not mentioned at the commission, Steinberg's arguing that Zuma's comments and the Tweet, which said Hanekom was part of the plan he mentioned at the commission, could be interpreted that Hanekom was an apartheid spy.

Zuma's lawyers are arguing that the Tweet only reflected the former minister colluded with others to have him ousted as president.

Hanekom has not disputed that he worked as an ANC spy, but says accusing him of spying for the apartheid regime was devastating.

He says many people have since accused him and his family of being behind the murder of freedom fighters.
