Gupta brothers arrested in Dubai

brothers Atul and Rajesh have been handcuffed in Dubai.
The Department of Justice confirmed the brothers' arrest on Monday evening.
The Ministry of Justice and Correctional Services confirms that it has recieved information from the law enforcement authorities in the United Arab Emirates that the fugitives of justice, namely Rajesh and Atul Gupta have been arrested," it said in a short statement.
The department's Chrispin Phiri said their arrests follow a red Interpol notice, issued in February for the controversial brothers.
They are wanted on corruption, fraud and money laundering charges.

"Discussions between various law enforcement agencies in the United Arab Emirates and South Africa are ongoing. South Africa will continue to cooperate with the UAE on the matter," said Phiri.
The controversial brothers. including Ajay, are accused of paying bribes in South Africa in exchange for massive and lucrative state contracts and influence over ministerial appointments.
The family fled the country amid investigations into their alleged looting of state-owned enterprises.
The total cost of state capture ran into the billions.
