Zandile Gumede's supporters have raised concerns about the arrest of eThekwini's City Manager.
They feel Sipho Nzuza should have been taken into custody sooner.
He was arrested on Tuesday by the Hawks in connection with Durban's R430 million solid waste tender scandal.
The Commercial Crimes Court granted Nzuza bail of R50 000.

Gumede, eThekwini's former mayor and other officials, were nabbed last year - in connection with the same tender fraud.
Speaking on behalf of her supporters, Mzomuhle Dube welcomed Nzuza's arrest.
"Certain charges relating to him backdating some documents, and also in terms of appointing companies that were not even in the database. So those were just a few things that were mentioned in court."
"The last time we were saying he must be placed on precautionary suspension so that you protect the municipality against any other wrongdoing that might be committed by him."
Nzuza is due back in court on 16 April - along with Gumede and their other co-accused.
