Guard injured in KwaMashu courier robbery

A guard escorting a delivery vehicle has been injured after coming under fire in KwaMashu, north of Durban.

Netcare 911's Shawn Herbst says the security escort and the courier van were approached by gunmen outside Bridge City shopping centre on Wednesday.
“The escort vehicle took two rounds through the back window, grazing the guard passenger on the head.

"A tracking vehicle in the area heard the sounds of gunshots and went to investigate, also coming under fire, striking the vehicle multiple times.”
He adds: "Fortunately the tracking officer escaped injury. It is unclear what the gunmen escaped with.
"The guard that was injured, was treated on scene and once stabilised was transported by ambulance to hospital for further care."
