Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Msunduzi's Municipal Manager says he's seeking legal advice after he was given an ultimatum by a council probing financial misconduct allegations against him.
Lulamile Mapholoba's been ordered to explain why he shouldn't be suspended.
A special council report recommended further investigation.
The South African Municipal Workers Union, however, wants him to go.
The union levelled allegations of incompetency and mistrust against him.

'They want a weak leadership so that their members can do as they please,” Mapholoba said.
“Their members have been involved in quite a serious misdemeanour and acts of misconduct that include abuse of overtime, abuse of standby allowance, stealing municipal resources, abuse of municipal resources and all other things which are totally out of order. When I am dealing with that, they come up with all sorts of stories. They hate me because I am unshaken, un-intimidated. I am a person who is very straightforward."
