Minister in the Presidency for Women Maite Nkoana-Mashabane says they are coordinating a response to support the survivors of a gang rape in Krugersdorp in Gauteng.
Eight women were shooting a music video when they were approached by a group of men who allegedly robbed and raped them on Thursday.
At least 62 people were arrested in an anti-crime blitz by police following the attack.

"As more details of the gang rape of eight women come to light, minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane wishes to express her shock and anger at the action perpetrated by these men on the eve of Women's Month,” says the department’s spokesperson, Shalen Gajadhar.
“We are still fighting the scourge of gender-based violence as a country, and to hear such an abhorrent act took place is unbelievable. We plead with SAPS to continue the search for perpetrators and bring those responsible to book.”
