Issuing of new social grant cards going smoothly: SASSA
Updated | By Lethiwe Mdluli
Social Security Agency, SASSA says the process to move grant beneficiaries from their old cards to the new SAPO card is running smoothly.

The agency's currently issuing new cards to beneficiaries who receive their grants as cash payments. They want to get this done by the end of the September.
Mbizeni Mdlalose, who's with SASSA in KZN, says beneficiaries will need to carry their IDs with them when applying for the new card.
"They must only bring their ID documents. This card comes with a lot of benefits. One of them is that it doesn't allow for any deduction from this card.
"This means that the issue of airtime deduction and electricity are going to be history now and you will be able to access a three-month bank statement through the Post Office," Mdlalose said.
Meanwhile Mdlalose says people, whose grants are deposited directly into their bank accounts, don't need to apply for the new card. He says they'll be assisted once the current phase wraps up in September.
