Govt departments improve audit outcomes

The Auditor-General says the number of clean audits in government departments has improved.
Tsakani Maluleke has released the audit outcomes of national and provincial departments and state-owned entities.
"In this year we have seen 66 auditees improve their audit outcome category.
"Either they have moved from unqualified to clean or qualified to clean or qualified to unqualified. However, that's set back by the regressions."

She says 35 of them went back into a less desirable audit outcome and we keep grappling with why that could be, what is it that can make an auditee improve vis-à-vis one that regresses."
