Govt confirms drop in fuel price for September
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy has announced a drop in the price of fuel for the month of September.
Both grades of petrol will decrease by R2.04c per/litre while diesel will drop by 40 & 60c per/litre effective from Tuesday midnight.
This while paraffin and LP gas are expected to decrease by more than R1.
Department of Energy spokesperson Robert Maake says the main reason for the decrease in fuel prices is a drop in the international oil price.

"The main reasons for these adjustments are the lower oil prices which led to the lower prices of all petroleum products and also the rand appreciated slightly against the US dollar during the period under review.
"The department approved an increase of 30,66c per/litre on the slate levy which is applicable on both petrol and diesel.
“The slate levy is expected to decrease if the current downwards trend persists," adds Maake.
