Predicted fuel price drop will have 'tremendous' impact on transport costs
Updated | By Sandile Bhengu
The Road Freight Association says the predicted fuel price drop in September will have a tremendous positive impact on transport costs.
The petrol price is set to drop by more than R2 a litre this month, while diesel will be between 70 and 80 cents cheaper.
The Road Freight Association's CEO Gavin Kelly says a price drop will certainly make life slightly easier for consumers towards the end of the year.
"It would be great news for the transport industry and in turn the consumer if the price of diesel reduced at the same rate as petrol."

"Because that means the cost of logistics would become cheaper and cheaper as we go along. Obviously, the price of fuel dropping means big things for the economy.
"It means that we can start a reverse in interest rates and we can start to see a reverse in high inflation. These will come down the line as these effects come into the economy."
The new fuel is expected to kick in on Wednesday.
