Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
More fuel price hikes are on the way in March. A litre of petrol's going up by R1.27 on Wednesday, while diesel users are going to have to fork out 30 cents more per litre.

The price of illuminating paraffin is also rising at midnight by between 13 cents and 17 cents a litre.
A spokesperson for the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy Robert Maake says there are a couple of reasons why South Africans are being hit with another round of fuel price increases.

"The reason for these increases are as follows; the higher prices of petrol compared to diesel and illuminated paraffin in the international markets. This is due to the lower petrol inventory levels globally and the closure of refineries in some countries for seasonal maintenance.
"The weaker rand against the US dollar contributed more than 50 cents to the prices of all petroleum products and the LPG gas has increased due to the higher freight rates and prices of propane and butane in the international markets."
