Gordhan urges Eskom board get SA out of stage 6
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan says the frequency of the breakdown of Eskom's infrastructure can be attributed to systems malfunctioning and possibly sabotage.

He says he's directed the power utility's officials to work around the clock to get the country out of stage 6 load shedding.
The minister met with members of the Eskom board on Wednesday.

Gordhan says they have also called on law-enforcement agencies to show a stronger presence at all Eskom power stations.
Meanwhile, Eskom has confirmed it's delayed the start of maintenance of Koeberg Nuclear Power Station's Unit 1.
The power utility says it's to allow time to stabilise the system and recover some generation capacity.
It says Unit 1 has been online for 407 days since the last outage.

The refuelling and maintenance is now planned to start on Saturday.
"The Koeberg Unit 1 refuelling and maintenance outage is therefore planned to now commence on Saturday 10 December 2022, should the grid conditions have recovered to ensure stability of the system," says Eskom spokesperson Sikonathi Mantshantsha.
