Government is looking at interventions to relieve Eskom's debt burden.

Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana hinted at the idea during a media briefing with ministers from the energy crisis committee on Monday.
"Depending on which time Eskom debt fluctuates between R200 to R400 billion. There's an accepted issue, even in the market place that, that debt for Eskom it's unsustainable and therefore, if its unsustainable it poses a risk to the soverign.
“To avoid that sovereign, they will have to step in."

Godongwana says Treasury will table its proposal at the next cabinet lekgotla.
