Glebelands: KZN police could appear before Portfolio Committee
Updated | By Puseletso Petersen
Parliament's Police Portfolio Committee says it will be calling on KZN police management to appear before it - to present their strategies to deal with the Glebelands Hostel murders.

Members of the committee were in the province on an oversight visit earlier this month and also made a stop in Umlazi to assess the situation in the area.
More than 90 people have been killed at Glebelands since 2014, many believed to be politically motivated.
The committee dismissed a report by KZN police that a lack of witnesses and evidence has contributed to the unsolved cases.

The portfolio committee's Francois Beukman says police at a national level will be sending reinforcements to assist.
"We will of course monitor the improved arrangements at Glebelands. There were undertakings by the SA Police Service that plans are underway to establish a satellite police station. There will also be an addition of five more detectives from the special investigating team for the SA team. There must be heightened intelligence-driven operations," he says.
KZN police declined to comment.
