Glebelands Hostel man sentenced for house robberies

A 31-year-old man from the notorious Glebelands Hostel, south of Durban, has been sentenced to 15-years in prison.

Sanele Hlophe appeared at the Scottsburg Regional Court last week, facing two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
Its understood Hlophe was involved in two house robberies in the Umkomaas area where he held victims at gunpoint in 2014 and 2015.
He was arrested for the crimes, but his charges were later withdrawn against him.

KZN SAPS's Thembeka Mbele says the charges were soon reinstated after a reinvestigation.
"After several appearances in court the accused was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for both counts after he pleaded guilty," she says.
