Gender-based violence summit: Activists call for more financial resources
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
Activists say the apparent lack of resources available to support victims of gender-based violence remains a concern.
Several organisations have been speaking on the challenges faced by women.
They've been taking part in a two-day summit on gender-based violence in Pretoria.
President Cyril Ramaphosa gave the keynote address yesterday - telling delegates police officers still need to be properly trained to handle such cases.

Bongiwe Dondo is with the Joint Gender Fund and spoke earlier today.
"Gender-based violence interventions are also inadequately resourced - for instance, we heard yesterday how police have no vehicles, how Thuthuzela Care Centres are working without adequate staffing and human resources. That has not been working well. We need increased financial commitment to gender-based violence," Dondo said.
