Gcaleka prepares to defend Phala Phala findings in court
Updated | By Celumusa Zulu
The country’s newly appointed Public Protector, Kholeka Gcaleka, is preparing to defend attempts to overturn her Phala Phala report.
Political party the ATM and non-profit the HBR Foundation have petitioned a high court to examine and nullify the report.
They are challenging her findings that cleared President Cyril Ramaphosa of wrongdoing in the 2020 theft of money from his Limpopo farm.

Legal analyst Sunil Singh says Gcaleka's report will come under immense scrutiny when it's brought under judicial review.
"Anything under judicial review is up for scrutiny, and the people that are taking up the report will obviously try to poke holes in the report, saying it is in disregard to the provisions of various acts which it is alleged the president to have breached.
"But it all depends again on the length upon which the people want to take it."
