Full probe launched following KZN 'gold' discovery

Economic Development MEC, Sihle Zikalala says it's still unclear whether a gold-like substance found in KwaMachi, near Harding, recently is really gold.
The rural village has become a hive of activity after construction workers discovered what locals believe is gold in the quarry.
Since then, people have been flocking to the southern KZN village, to dig out chunks of the rock.
But two people were hurt by falling rocks last weeks. Zikalala who visited the site yesterday wants the quarry to be closed off to the public.
"We did take samples which have been found to be insufficient. Now, we must enter into a full scale investigation," Zikalala said.

And these investigations could take a while.
"The full scale investigation might take two or three months. Thereafter, we will come back where we will meet traditional leadership, councillors and the community through the office of the minister," Zikalala said.
