Major routes in and around the city are starting to clear after tow truckers, trucks and some motorists took to the streets, a protest against the rising prices of fuel.
Both carriageways of the N3 at New England remain closed to traffic while congestion is subsiding on the N2 Southbound near Higginson Highway and the R102, at the Buffelsdale turn-off.
While a fresh protest is affecting motorists on 45th Cutting in Sherwood and both lanes of the N2 near Westwood Mall.
"We are trying to clear up the roadway and get the traffic moving. Metro police officers, a special operations team and the multi-operational response team are monitoring all major routes in and around the city," Metro Police's Parbo Sewpersad said.
