Fuel price hike shock in store for October
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
There'll be no revving of engines in October as motorists contend with skyrocketing fuel prices come Wednesday.
The Energy Department's Robert Maake has confirmed that most fuels will be going up between R1 and R2 a litre.
"The retail price of petrol will increase by R1.08 and R1.14 a litre "
The adjustments which kick in at midnight are going to be worse for diesel users.

"Diesel at wholesale price will increase by R1.96 and R1. 93 cents per litre and illuminating paraffin at wholesale level will increase by R1.51 cent and at retail level by R2.2 cent,” Maake says.
"The rand weakening against the US dollar has contributed R0.22 to R0.26 cents per litre, a slate levy of about 30.7 cents per litre is implemented on the price structures of petrol and diesel in line with the self-adjusting slate mechanism rules.
"The LP Gas is increasing mainly due to higher prices of propane and butane as well as higher freight rate during the period under review."
