More fuel price hikes on the cards for October
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
The fuel price outlook has not improved much over the last two weeks, with month-end data still pointing to another steep hike.
According to predictions by the Automobile Association, diesel is set to increase for the fourth month - costing R1.60 more per litre.
Petrol is expected to go up by between 75 and 80 cents a litre, while the price of illuminating paraffin could rise by more than R1.50 a litre.
The AA's Layton Beard says rising international oil prices and a weaker rand are factors.
"These increases are going to hit all consumers hard and they come at a time when most South Africans are feeling extreme financial pressure.
"It remains concerning, however, that in the face of these increases, government remains silent on its plans, if there are any, on a way forward to deal more effectively with fuel price increases."
