Frustrated KZN South Coast community consider legal action against Ugu

A group of South Coast residents are in talks with lawyers about possible legal action against the UGU municipality over the water outages in the district.
The South Coast Water Action Group, which comprises over 600 members, was started as a result of the constant water disruptions in the area.
The group, which comprises of residents, businesses and other affected entities, aims to find solutions in putting an end to the water crisis.
One of its members, Hilton O'Dwyer, says he's been without water for over 75 days.

"Its sort of a class action but it doesn't have to have a certain amount of signatures, affidavits or people involved. So it is achievable, but it is not necessarily a long term option.
"What you are going when you do the legal route is creating an ambulance for a sick patient - the frustration has gone to a point where you actually create anarchy - you can have people just break into shops and just get violent.
"It is really at that point where people become inconsiderate, rude and unfriendly - people that you used to know as kind people are not kind any more."
