8 KZN municipalities under administration 'for the foreseeable future'
Updated | By Andrew Robertson
Richmond Municipality's passed its review reports on governance, financial management and service delivery.

The South African Local Government Association (SALGA) says this is why it won't be under administration anymore.
But SALGA KZN's Sabelo Gwala says they're not happy with the progress at eight other embattled municipalities including: Msunduzi, Mtubatuba, Mpofana, Inkosi Langalibalele, uThukela, Abaqulusi, eMadlangeni and uMzinyathi.
They'll remain under the management of an administrator.

"For the foreseeable future, what we would expect is the situation to remain unchanged.
"The reason for that is because in many of the municipalities, we are saying that, why can't we have a situation where you correct the controls that the auditor general says.
"Municipalities are faced with community protests from time to time asking for electricity and how do you electrify more locations in an environment where you already say you cannot afford."
"We must be patient with the interventions and look at the systemic challenges."
