Four killed in botched hit on Gauteng businessman

Four suspected robbers have been killed in a shootout with police in Gauteng.

The scene in Randfontein on the West Rand was still active early Tuesday afternoon.
Speaking to Newzroom Afrika from the scene, Gauteng Deputy Police Commissioner Fred Kekana said the group had planned to rob a businessman who was on his way to a bank.
He said when they were intercepted, the suspects fired at officers, who shot back.

"The poor business person's valuable hard work was going to go up in flames at the hands of criminals who thought they could rule and do as they wish.
"The teams that were involved here include crime intelligence Eastern Cape, TRTH Gauteng, Anti-Gang Gauteng, and Fidelity Security Company was part and parcel of this whole operation."
