Four hurt in Toti taxi crash

Four people, including three children, have been hurt in a crash along Andrew Zondo Road, formerly Kingsway, in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban.
Emergency services say a taxi and a double cab bakkie collided in the vicinity of Inyoni Crescent this afternoon.

Kingsway High School paramedic, Chris Botha says he arrived at the scene and found that the taxi had overturned after the impact."The children had managed to get out of the vehicle, but the driver was pinned underneath the wreckage," said Botha.
He says firefighters and medics from Netcare911 and Life Response arrived quickly at the scene.

"It was quite difficult to stabilise the man underneath the vehicle. We eventually managed to pull him out and found that he had escaped critical injuries."The driver sustained suspected head and spinal injuries.
It is still unclear at this stage was caused the crash.

Andrew Zondo Road (Kingsway) was severely obstructed for some time while medics emergency services attended to the scene.Botha says the entire structure of the taxi was ripped apart after impact.
