Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
Four people have appeared in court for public violence and malicious damage to property following unrest in eNgonyameni, near Umlazi. They were arrested after a community hall was torched and a police vehicle was damaged during the protests over several mornings this week.

Over the weekend, a tribal court in the area - which also functioned as a soup kitchen - was also set alight.

Residents are said to be complaining about access to running water.
Police spokesperson Thembeka Mbhele is urging residents to address their grievances with relevant authorities instead of damaging property.
"I would firstly advise the community at large to be extra cautious in this area that's affected," she says, "I'd also appeal to the protesters to please go to the relevant department to demand service delivery rather than taking to the streets, burning tyresand torching community halls. At the end of the day, they need those halls too".
