Former Mtubatuba mayor charged with assaulting Zululand Observer journalist

Former Mtubatuba Mayor Mandla Zungu is set to appear in court on Friday on a charge of assault.
He was arrested after he and a group of bodyguards allegedly assaulted Zululand Observer journalist, Gaddafi Zulu while he was conducting interviews this week.
The newspaper says Zulu was investigating reports that the newly appointed administrator had been refused access to the municipal offices by Zungu.

Zulu was then allegedly slapped and punched and his laptop and phone taken away.
The journalist and the newspaper subsequently opened a case of assault against the former mayor to retrieve his belongings.
