Foetus found buried in shallow grave near Pinetown

Police have exhumed the remains of a foetus that was found buried in a shallow grave in KwaNdengezi near Pinetown.

Police say neighbours alerted officers to a smell coming from one of the homes on Tom-Tom Road on Wednesday.
Officers found a woman living on the property.

Police spokesperson, Nqobile Gwala says the woman then pointed officers in the direction of the grave.
"A 23-year-old suspect was placed under arrest, and she will appear tomorrow [Friday] in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court where she will be facing a charge of murder," she said.
Gwala says a post-mortem is currently being conducted to ascertain the cause of death of the foetus.
