The CEO of the Morningside-based Bill Buchanan Association for the Aged says they initially had two confirmed cases - an 81-year-old woman who is being treated at St Augustine's Hospital and a 78-year-old woman who is in isolation at the village.

Dudley Fortune says those who were in contact with them were isolated and tested. He says the results came back this week. The three residents who were isolated on the 25th of March have tested positive.  One resident is still waiting for his results.

“I have spoken to the man who is sitting in his isolation ward, who is in a state from not knowing if he is positive or not,” said Fortune.

Fortune says this virus should be taken seriously.

“This is an absolutely serious problem. You only must understand when you have several people under your care and you see the worry in their eyes. You hear the anguish coming out of their families that phone, unable to visit because of the lockdown but are concerned for the well-being of their parents. It’s something to have to witness to understand how terrible this virus is,” said Fortune.

The Health Department has visited the home to screen residents and to inspect the isolation arrangements.
