Updated | By Andrew Robertson
There have been more arrests in the VBS heist saga. The Hawks have taken five people into custody following raids in Gauteng and Limpopo earlier today.

They've been charged with theft, fraud, corruption, money laundering and racketeering in connection with the looting of over R2 billion of customers' savings and investments at the mutual bank.
Katlego Mogale is the spokesperson for the Hawks. "The arrested suspects include a General Manager of VBS responsible for credit facilities, a former Chief Operating Officer of VBS and CEO of Vele Investments."
She adds that four commission agents and office-bearer of a political party, as well as an employee of Collins Chabane Local Municipality in Limpopo, were also arrested.

"This suspect is arrested in a separate case which is related to the investment of municipality funds into the VBS."
Mogale says they are expecting three more suspects to hand themselves in today.
They'll be lining up in the Specialised Commercial Crimes Court sitting in the Palm Ridge Magistrate's tomorrow.
