The KwaZulu-Natal Coronavirus Command Council has issued a warning saying five districts in KZN are now experiencing the third wave.

It says the province saw a 45% increase in the number of new cases this past week.
The average number of infections daily jumped from 859 to 1 261 cases.

The affected districts are Amajuba, Uthukela, Umzinyathi, UMgungundlovu and Zululand.
The council blames the surge in cases on the lack of adherence to Covid-19 regulations, social gatherings and parties.
It says the number of daily hospital isolations is increasing steadily in both the private and public sectors.
