Five KZN ANC members still heading to court over elective conference

The five, being backed by the party's Umlazi sub-region, are challenging the results of last year's eighth provincial conference that saw Sihle Zikalala emerge as chairperson of the ANC in the province.

Last year, there were several attempts to hold the party's eThekwini Regional Conference which were disrupted.

The Durban city centre came to a stand-still when hundreds of people marched in opposition to an elective conference that saw Zikalala's appointment.

Yesterday, in a statement the ANC said it welcomed the decision by the five to withdraw the case; however attorney, Alpha Zwane, says this is not so as they are moving full steam ahead with the case.

He had been where he said upon the request for information by the respondents the matter was struck off the court roll and will be reinstated at a later stage.
