Five arrested for kidnapping of three NW teens

Five suspects have been arrested after three teenagers were kidnapped in North West and trafficked to Gauteng.

Hawks spokesperson Lloyd Ramovha says the suspects were arrested in Johannesburg on Thursday after demanding R50 000 ransom per child.

"Five suspects were apprehended in the Mayfair area after they reportedly kidnapped three teenagers of Ethiopian origin - this was over the weekend.

"The three teenagers were allegedly kidnapped from North West and trafficked to Gauteng."

Ramovha says the five suspects are also of Ethiopian origin.

"They are expected to be charged for human trafficking, kidnapping and extortion whilst additional charges are being pulled out."

The suspects will appear in court soon.
