Five arrested in connection to Howick farm murder

Arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Howick farmer, Trevor Murphy.

51-year-old Murphy was stabbed several times at his home in the early hours of Friday morning.
He died in hospital.
His attackers made off with his car and several other items.
Police spokesperson, Jay Naicker says Murphy’s vehicle was spotted in Pietermaritzburg this morning with three occupants inside.

"Police officers intercepted the vehicle and a search was conducted. During the search, a 9mm pistol and clothing that were taken during the robbery were found in the vehicle."
The three suspects were immediately arrested.
"Following further investigation, the team proceeded to the nt where a further two suspects were arrested. Police also seized a number of suspected stolen items for further investigation," he adds.
Five suspects, aged between 25 and 47, were charged with murder and robbery and will appear in the Howick Magistrate’s Court soon.
