Man suffers 90% body burns after gas explosion in North Coast

A man's been rushed to hospital after being seriously injured in a gas explosion on the north coast.

IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst says the accident happened at the man's home in Shaka's Rock a short while ago.

"At this stage, we are unsure how the explosion occurred. The patient sustained 95% burns to his body.

Due to the severity of the injuries sustained, he was airlifted through to a local hospital burn unit for further care.
