Five to appear in court on Monday for truck attacks

Five suspects arrested in
connection with the series of arson attacks on trucks make their first
appearance in court in the Mpumalanga province on Monday.
Some 21 trucks have been torched in KZN, Gauteng, Limpopo and Mpumalanga over the past two weeks.
Members of the South African National Defence Force and more police officers have since been dispatched to monitor the country's major corridors.
Authorities say they are closing in on the ring leaders behind the spate of attacks, with another two suspects arrested in Mpumalanga over the weekend.

Speaking at a media briefing on the ANC's national executive committee meeting, the party's secretary-general Fikile Mbalula said communities must work with the police in reporting any suspects behind what he described as economic sabotage.
"The ANC has observed and condemned the anarchist behaviour of the arsonists who have burned trucks in KZN and Mpumalanga. This is not an act of protest, it's an unacceptable violent and cowardly behaviour that has no place in our democracy.
"We support the initiative by the government to bring to book the perpetrators of this heinous crime."
