Fitness industry seeks clarity on level 4 regulations
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The health and fitness industry says it will be seeking clarity following a government gazette issued on Monday morning, stating that gyms and health clubs will be closed under level 4 of the lockdown.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Sunday night that the country will be entering alert level 4, which bans all indoor and outdoor social gatherings with the exception of funerals at a limited capacity.

As per regulations gazetted following last night's announcement gyms, cinemas and fitness centres will be closed.
FIT SA's Grant Austin says they're confused as last night the president made no mention of the fitness industry.

"In addition, there seems to be some ambiguity because I think under point 24, they mention that gyms, night clubs, casinos etc. should be closed. But further down in the regulations, I think it's under point 30, they had a table which listed the businesses that should be shut and just nightclubs were listed there.
"So we find that a bit ambiguous and we weren't quite sure. We have drafted a letter, as FIT SA, to the various ministers just seeking clarity on this."
