The first snowfall of 2017 in South Africa caught on camera

Snow has fallen since the early hours of the morning in parts of South Africa.

KZN Disaster Management authorities have warned residents in the province against snow-chasing as they could potententially put their lives in danger.

Snow has been falling in areas including Sani Pass and Giants Castle.

The cold and wet that has hit the province is expected to continue for the rest of the weekend.

Cooperative Governance spokesperson, Lennox Mabaso says their disaster teams are on high alert monitoring hotspots that could be affected by the weather.

Mabaso also says where there is heavy rain falling, people are being advised to delay travel on the roads until conditions are safe.
