Cold and wet weather for KZN over the weekend
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Parts of the province can expect heavy rain and even snow from tonight.
Downpours are expected over the southern parts of KwaZulu Natal, accompanied by gale force winds.
Forecaster at the South African Weather Service Thandiwe Gumede is warning the the heavy rain might lead to localised flooding.
She says severe thunderstorms are also expected over the northwestern parts of the province this evening.
Gumede says snowfall can also be expected.
"We are expecting some snowfalls to come through from this evening over the western parts of KZN. As we move on towards tomorrow, the snowfall, especially over the southwestern parts of KZN are expected to become more disruptive so there is an alert out for that as well for tomorrow. The snow is expected to last through up until Sunday but it wont particularly be disruptive on Sunday," she said.
KZN Emergency Service's Rob Mackenzie's warned motorists and residents to be cautious at this time.
"Firstly if you are going to be driving out on the roads the first thing you need to do is decrease the speed that you are travelling at. If you find yourself at a swollen river please do not try and cross it. Even water as high as your knees, if it's flooding raging water, it can easily wash you away.
Listen below to forecaster Thandiwe Gumede's breakdown of what conditions you can expect over various parts of KZN from tonight through Sunday.
