Fill vacant educator posts: Naptosa
Updated | By Lucky Khanyile
A teachers union has criticised the KZN Department of Education for not filling what it says are 420 vacant posts - some of which are at special schools.

Naptosa says the department agreed to fill the posts in September, but that has not yet happened.
The union's Anthony Pierce says they understood that the creation of these posts would alleviate the pressure at understaffed schools - adding they are crucial to the foundation phase of learning.

"If they don't distribute or create those 420 posts, then we are going to disrupt the process of the movement of access for educators across the province," he said.
Provincial Education spokesperson, Kwazi Mthethwa has refuted the claims saying only 183 posts remain vacant.
He says posts at special schools have been prioritised and will be advertised before the end of the financial year.
"The number of 183 posts was advertised and now the process of short-listing is underway," he said.
