A 5000 strong crowd is expected to march from Curries Fountain to the Durban Harbour.

This comes as Fees Must Fall activists have called on a national march across all provinces - calling for free education.

Metro Police spokesperson, Sbonelo Mchunu has urged participants  to march peacefully.

"Our officers will be out - both the traffic management as well as the prevention of violence and crime [officers]. You cannot test and carry dangerous weapons. You cannot attack people who are not participants in the protest and you cannot force people who are not willing to be part of the protest to be involved," he said.
