Fedhasa calls reimposed level 3 lockdown bad timing for industry

The adjusted regulations under the reimposed Level 3 lockdown have come at a time when many businesses had been hoping to recoup losses from the earlier COVID-19 lockdown.

This is what the Federated Hospitality Association of South Africa says.


It believes this window of opportunity many businesses had been banking on will be lost when the country's situation is reviewed after two weeks.


FEDHASA's been reacting to the government's decision this week, to tighten measures due to the dramatic spike in infections.

East Coast head of the association, Brett Tungay, says while the hospitality industry will comply with the regulations, some businesses may feel compelled to halt trading or reduce their workforce over the next couple of weeks. 


"It's a huge blow to the industry in terms of our primary trading season in KZN. It's very bad timing for us, seeing that most of the industry has so far this year has lost between 40 and 60% of their annual turnover."
